About
My name is Audrey Blanche, and I enjoy bringing people together through words, activities, and ideas. I've started writing the Distinctly Human newsletter as a way to remind us all of the importance of being present in the human experience. I received an undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology and a master's degree in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. When I'm not writing, I enjoy running, having completed two marathons since the end of my collegiate career, traveling, and baking.
My focus is on creating and building community where I can. While the internet is becoming a replacement for our physical world, we are beginning to lose ourselves in the midst. At the root, I believe we have a time problem, which is a topic I often find myself writing about. In graduate school, I defended my master's thesis on meditation and interpersonal synchrony. Essentially, this looked at how, when two people meditate together, their perception of time synchronizes. To do so, I learned and researched extensively on meditation, mindfulness, and other spiritual and mental health topics. This has led me to consider the ways we are kept from being present in our daily lives, from living the human experience.
Through my work, I hope to create a community centered around mindfulness and to get your mind moving. My goal is to remind people of the importance of being present and finding excitement in the mundane. I am rooting for humanity. If you are too, please consider subscribing.
