About

Welcome to the home of the Distinctly Human publication. This is the place to be reminded of the human experience, and to surrender to your humanity. In a world that keeps us from being present, this publication aims to serve as your reminder to experience the human condition. Our time is invaluable, and it is imperative to pay attention to how we spend it. When we allow external pressures to invade our internal lives, our time is the first to suffer. Time belongs to us, and to those we share our lives with. When we focus on the desires of the modern world, we become lost in a constant state of wanting, of lacking. When we focus on what we have in the present, we become entrenched in a state of abundance. For the present is the most abundant resource we have available. Distinctly Human is here to be your relief from the noise. To remind you that life is unequivocally the most present offline and that the real person you are being is the one of importance. That instead of building a life centered around a desire, you can create one centered around presence.

Distinctly Human (DH) is aligned with slow media. That's why you'll receive new pieces as I'm inspired, but I will do my best to write a new piece every month. The focus is on quality, not quantity. The hope is that through reading and engaging with DH that you will recognize the person inside yourself and find communion with our fellow humans. Together, we can emphasize the need for thoughtfulness and intention in our actions. I, Audrey, hope to make you think. So, if you're looking for a small business support that is centered around thought, want to consume less and be present more, you've found your place!

Here are my commitments to you:

  • I will not use AI to create, write, or be part of anything I produce.
  • I will provide in-depth research where necessary and always provide you with the sources.
  • I will only use sustainable materials for any projects I undertake.

Okay, but you are writing...on the internet?

While it may seem contradictory, there has to be a home for my work somewhere. This website is the best place to get updates, as Distinctly Human does not participate in social media. That would be extremely contradictory. How could I ask you to constantly visit my page while telling you to participate in your life offline? All I ask is that you share my work with others when it resonates.
